Green claim and packaging: a guide for the conscious consumer
Messages related to environmental sustainability are increasingly present on product packaging. Terms like "eco-friendly" or "low impact" may seem reassuring, but they are not always supported by concrete data. To make truly conscious choices, it is essential to know how to read and correctly interpret environmental claims, distinguishing between generic statements and verifiable information. Exploring these aspects means strengthening one's ability to responsibly evaluate what one purchases.
Transparency, first and foremost
Transparency, understood as the willingness to provide consumers with all the information necessary to understand the real environmental impact, is an essential element in sustainability communication.
Telling the characteristics and impact of products in a clear and simple way allows people to be guided in more conscious decisions. For this reason, we invite you to always pay attention to what you choose and to inform yourself carefully: awareness is the first step towards concrete change.

FITT's approach
For FITT, packaging contributes to transparently telling the concrete commitment to sustainability at the product level.
Every environmental claim is accompanied by accessible information that can be consulted at any time, for example thanks to QR codes that refer to clear and verifiable data, as in the case of products with Carbon Footprint.
Furthermore, in the "Sustainability" section of the website it is possible to explore every action, choice and result of FITT for sustainability: making our commitment understandable is an integral part of change.

Scientific data: how FITT makes it accessible
A reliable sustainable claim must be supported by scientific data and information. When a product is declared to be composed of recycled material, its percentage must always be specified: in the case of FITT NTS Tobby, for example, the packaging indicates that the product is composed of 47% recycled plastic, with a further specification explaining that it is post-industrial recycled PVC.
Furthermore, when talking about environmental impact, mentioning parameters like Carbon Footprint, it is essential to provide as much information as possible about the calculation method used and the parameters taken into consideration. Indeed, on the product page, there is a paragraph that illustrates the calculation method used and the regulations taken into consideration, to which is added a table that explains the results of each product whose value has been calculated.

FITT's responsible products
Sustainability is a value that guides every phase of a product's process: from its design to production, up to communication.
In line with this approach, FITT has decided to define as responsible those products that meet the following criteria, with the objective of giving all gardening enthusiasts the possibility to cultivate their passion with quality products, performing and designed to be the meeting point between innovation and sustainability:

- Contains at least 30% recycled plastic in its composition;
- Demonstrates a reduction of at least 10% of CO2e emissions in the production process compared to the previous version of the product;
- Is developed according to one or more of FITT's ecodesign lines (performance, reduction and circularity).

Transparent communication is fundamental for creating trust and helping people understand the value of sustainable products. Having easy access to information related to sustainability is important because it allows for quickly verifying the truthfulness of statements about the product. In this way, misunderstandings or misleading messages are avoided and one can choose with greater security and awareness, basing decisions on clear and concrete data rather than on generic or vague words.
